Traveling includes three main travel seasons, peak, off-season and shoulder (in between). These are the season where fares vary keeping in effect with the change in dates. People flexible with travel dates can get the lowest deals. Traveling in weekends and peak season indicated making reservations in advance. Check for airlines having weekend supplement as the fares may be higher in April, May, October and December months.
Travel Hints to remember
1. Check for the flights departure time before 72 hours.
2. Keep credit cards, airline tickets and itinerary ready. Leave details such as itinerary and passport details, if any, and contact information in your home city with a known person.
3. Carrying driving license is best, as it is a form of identification.
4. Add identification tags on your baggage with your name, phone number and address.
As airports are crowded, pre-arrange transfers and plan ahead the hotel accommodation as well as other requirements so that you have nothing hindering you upon arrival.
Security in Indian Airports
Heightened security measures have increased at the airport and so following tips helps in smooth process:
1. Arrive two hours before flight departure, especially when you are traveling with senior citizens or children.
2. Keep the travel documents easily accessible and stay cool.
3. Avoid accessories attracting metal detectors as it leads to undergoing secondary screening.
4. Keep your laptop out of its case and place it in the bin.
5. Wear shoes that are easily removable so that it is comfortable in security inspection.
Safety Tips
1. Airports are chaotic, stay alert and do not trust strangers.
2. Contact only uniformed guides.
3. Take pre-paid taxis available from the airport. Use identified, authorized taxis. Pre-book a car transfer in private, if you have lot of luggage.
4. Assure all baggage is placed in the taxi trunk before leaving the taxi stand.
